Bethesda Executive Producer Todd Howard shares an update on when one feature from Fallout and The Elder Scrolls will come to Starfield.
- Starfield fans eagerly anticipate the Creation Kit’s arrival for more mods and flexibility in-game.
- Mod support has been confirmed by Todd Howard, with some creators already testing out the Kit.
- The Creation Kit could bring new content, fix bugs, and introduce assets from other Bethesda games.
Bethesda’s Todd Howard updates fans regarding the Creation Kit, an important feature that will be coming to Starfield soon. Most Bethesda fans are already familiar with the concept of the Creation Kit. When The Elder Scrolls:Skryim launched its Creation Kit, around 2,500 mods were available in just a week’s time. Since it allows for easier modification of game files, creators have more flexibility in-game. This is partly the reason why Starfield fans are highly excited about its introduction to the game.
As Starfield follows a similar formula to both Fallout and Elder Scrolls, fans have made a reasonable assumption that the Creation Kit will also come to the game. Todd Howard had also previously alluded to it in an interview with Famitsu in 2023 by stating that mod support “will be available next year.” While mods already exist within the Starfield community, the introduction of the aforementioned Creation Kit would encourage more modders and creators to come up with original content, and would thereby add longevity in the game.
In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Todd Howard gave a few statements regarding the Starfield Creation Kit. He mentioned that as the tool is coming soon, some creators actually have their hands on it. This is great news, as it means that once the Kit officially launches, there will already be several mods available for gamers to check out. Most notably, fans unfamiliar with the modding scene may be able to experience several mods, including the Star Wars ship mods, with ease.
Bethesda Games With Creation Kits
- The Elder Scrolls: Skryim
- Fallout 4
Historically, the Creation Kit has helped keep both Fallout and the Elder Scrolls alive. Skyrim regularly experiences resurgences in the gaming community because new mods help introduce new mechanics, and even an overhauled game at times. Starfield would be able to maintain a high player base, as well as find new audiences once the kit launches. One huge mod that currently exists is one that increases Starfield‘s difficulty after every New Game+. Once the tool launches, many people will be able to experience this challenge without the need for any complicated processes, which in turn would also give players more reason to continue playing.
With the game looking to continue its trajectory upwards, Todd Howard recently mentioned that good updates are coming soon to Starfield. The Creation Kit could also factor into this discussion. Not only will the modding tool be able to provide new content, there’s also a way that the tool could help creators fix a lot of the existing glitches and bugs that plague the game. There’s also a possibility that certain assets from other Bethesda games could be easily introduced. Starfield is looking to go all out as it moves forward into the future, and content and mod creators will soon be able to help shape the game into the ideal Skyrim in space that they’ve long wished for.
