- Garena Free Fire is the surprising number one game on TikTok, with a massive 888 billion views across 87.3 million videos.
- Roblox and Fortnite follow closely behind, with Roblox gearing up for a major event and Fortnite featuring Fallout and possibly Mad Max content.
- Despite the popularity of games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto, they didn’t make the top five list on TikTok, showcasing the diverse range of games on the platform.
TikTok has come a long way over the years, going from primarily hosting videos of teens making choreographed dance routines to a total melting pot of seemingly endless types of content, particularly with video games. Data has recently been revealed of the 500 most popular games on TikTok, courtesy of a platform called mindGAME, with the number one spot taking many by surprise: character shooter Garena Free Fire.
TikTok, at least in the United States, has had quite a tumultuous year thus far. The ultra-popular video platform, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, is facing a nationwide ban after the House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted in favor of a bill which essentially forces the company to sell TikTok to a non-Chinese entity, citing concerns about national security. The company has rebutted with a legal case of its own, as TikTok is suing the US government in response to the bill claiming it to be unconstitutional.
Garena Free Fire, for those who may be unaware, is a mobile-based battle royale shooter featuring a similar premise to its popular counterparts such as Call of Duty: Warzone or Fortnite. Although not necessarily as popular as the aforementioned titles in North America, Garena Free Fire is wildly popular in regions like Southeast Asia, with its esports focus lending itself to its massive popularity, once holding the record for the most concurrent viewers for an esports tournament ever. According to the data, Garena Free Fire has 888 billion views across 87.3 million videos on TikTok.
Some of TikTok’s most popular video game content is of:
- Garena Free Fire
- Roblox
- Fortnite
- Minecraft
- PUBG Mobile
- Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)
- Genshin Impact
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Call of Duty: Warzone
- Five Nights at Freddy’s
- Brawl Stars
- Valorant
- Clash Royale
- Among Us
- League of Legends
Coming in second place is Roblox with 595 billion views on 66 million videos. The ever-popular sandbox title will likely see a surge soon on TikTok, as May 23 is going to be a huge day for Roblox. The date is the official start day for what’s being called “The Classic” event, which will see the return of a variety of games, cosmetics and activities from the platform’s early years. First launching in 2006, the expansive game has plenty of content to draw from, although exactly which games will be participating has yet to be confirmed.
Fortnite is the third most popular video game on TikTok with 591 million views on 60 million videos. It, too, will probably see a boost in TikTok content in the near future, as the upcoming Fortnite battle royale season will feature Fallout cosmetics, primarily the franchise’s legendary Power Armor. While yet to be confirmed, the season is rumored to also feature Mad Max content, likely correlating with the release of the film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Seemingly popular titles like Call of Duty: Warzone, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Counter-Strike didn’t even make it into the top five, nor did single-player titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Elden Ring, which are sitting in the 30-40 range. Some titles have quickly risen up the rankings in recent weeks, like the medieval city-building strategy game Manor Lords, showcasing the surprisingly diversified collection of video games popular on TikTok.
